While he was sitting on the judge's bench, his wife sent word to him, "Have nothing to do with that righteous man, for today I've suffered terribly in a dream because of Him!"

When Pilate heard these words, he brought Jesus outside. He sat down on the judge's bench in a place called the Stone Pavement (but in Hebrew Gabbatha).

While Gallio was proconsul of Achaia, the Jews made a united attack against Paul and brought him to the judge's bench.

So he drove them from the judge's bench.

When he had spent not more than eight or 10 days among them, he went down to Caesarea. The next day, seated at the judge's bench, he commanded Paul to be brought in.

But Paul said: "I am standing at Caesar's tribunal, where I ought to be tried. I have done no wrong to the Jews, as even you can see very well.

Therefore, when they had assembled here, I did not delay. The next day I sat at the judge's bench and ordered the man to be brought in.

But you, why do you criticize your brother? Or you, why do you look down on your brother? For we will all stand before the judgment seat of God.

Or do you not know that the saints will judge the world? And if the world is judged by you, are you unworthy to judge the smallest cases?

So if you have cases pertaining to this life, do you select those who have no standing in the church to judge?

Listen, my dear brothers: Didn't God choose the poor in this world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom that He has promised to those who love Him?
